By the end of this course, the successful candidate will have a wide range of boat handling techniques and experience in the provision of safety cover for sailing events. Areas covered will include towing, assistance with race management, mark laying and the provision of assistance for sailing dinghies( single-handed and crewed) windsurfers and canoe/kayaks.

Safety boat certificate is required by those providing cover at clubs, regattas and instruction courses.

Course Duration: 2 Days

Course content:

Preparation of boat for use
Basic boat handling
Race management (sailing boats)
Approaching and assisting sailing dinghies, windsurfers, canoes & kayaks, kitesurfers
Boat types
Incident management and medical emergencies

Course pre-requesites/experience required:

Participants must hold a National Powerboat Certificate (Level 2) and have at least 8 hours driving experience. It is strongly recommended that participants hold a VHF radio operators certificate and a first aid certificate.
