Sailing Courses for Kids & Teens
Learn to sail with one of Ireland’s most experienced sailing centres. Our Irish Sailing accredited courses take young sailors from complete beginner through to advanced levels. Using topper training boats and expert instructors, participants develop confidence, boat handling skills, water safety knowledge and a lifelong love of sailing in a fun and supportive environment.
Kids Start Sailing – Level 1
This week is a busy and enjoyable introduction to sailing, with certification from Irish Sailing upon completion. Our experienced sailing instructors will bring you through the ins and outs of rigging, safety, personal buoyancy, basic manoeuvres and capsize recovery.

Youths Basic Sailing Skills – Level 2
Basic Skills will set you up on your way to being an independent sailor! During this course, we concentrate on boat handling and seamanship skills, and by the end of the sailing course, you should be confident to helm your own dinghy in moderate wind strengths.
- Pre-requisites: Have completed sailing Level 1 – Start Sailing, or have a basic knowledge of sailing. Participants must be able to swim

Sailing Skills Catch Up Week
Our Sailing Skills Catch Up Week is designed for sailors who want to refresh and develop their sailing before progressing to more advanced courses such as Improving Skills or Advanced Boat Handling. You will need to complete this week if you want to book a level 3 or 4 course, to catch up on your skills prior to your course. Instructors will work with each participant to build on their existing sailing proficiencies, introduce new skills, and increase time on the water. The programme is flexible and instructors will tailor coaching to suit individual ability levels.
- Pre-requisites: Must have completed Basic Skills (Level 2) or equivalent. Must be able to swim

Improving Sailing Skills - Level 3
If you’ve got to grips with Basic Skills in light to moderate winds and are ready to move on, our Improving Skills course is the ideal next step. You’ll build confidence on the water while developing your boat handling, seamanship and sailing independence. Expect plenty of practical, hands-on sailing during the week, as well as the key theory needed to progress safely, including basic navigation, tides, weather and safety. You’ll also experience the ultimate rush in our Topaz Vibe and Argo boats.
- Pre-requisites:Â Must attend Sailing Skills Revision Week, unless participant has been sailing regularly within the last 6 months. Must be able to swim

Advanced Boat Handling – Level 4
Our Advanced Boat Handling course is designed for sailors who want to develop high-level boat control, advanced manoeuvres and the ability to sail confidently in stronger wind conditions. Throughout the week you will develop advanced boat handling skills while learning how to rig, tune and optimise your boat for different conditions.
Your instructor will monitor your progress throughout the week and may conduct a practical boat handling assessment, along with a short written test or informal discussion to assess your sailing knowledge.
